SUNFLOWERS - PUTTING ON A SHOW
August, 2010
CATCHING THE SUN
![]()
Bob wandered out at golden hour and caught these fantastic images of the sunflowers he's been growing for Jill and Andy's wedding coming up in September.
THEY'RE ALIVE!
![]()
Sunflowers seem more alive than most other flowers in that they follow the sun. If you sit still long enough you can see them rotate.
IRREPRESSIBLE
![]()
The sunflowers laugh, catch the sun and throw it back!
FOOD FOR POLLINATORS
![]()
Birds and bees love the sunflowers, too.
SENTINELS
![]()
They keep an eye on things, feed the birds and wave at us as we walk by.
TRANSITION
![]()
As day turned to dusk, the sunflowers yield to more muted tones.
MEANWHILE, BACK ON EARTH
![]()
The coreopsis and moss rose are putting on a show of their own.
MOSS ROSE
![]()
Moss rose is one of Camille's favorite flowers. They don't ask for much and give back vibrant color in return. The bed we reclaimed last month is holding up well despite pressure from the local garden bane, Bermuda grass or wire grass.
