More supporting evidence.  I would have missed it if Pamela didn't print it out.  Even so, the print is nearly indistinguishable from this picture.

TOADS

A well-camouflaged toad.

 

When you think of Alaska, you think of big things, like moose and bear.  However, everywhere we looked we saw all kinds of beautiful and strange little things.

 

FLOWERS

FIREWEED and BOG STAR

 

At the end of the season, after fireweed (on the left) is finished blooming, it makes cotton.  The pretty little flower on the right is aptly named the star of the bog.

 

BERRIES

 

Bunch Berries or Dwarf Dogwood, edible but mostly seed, are so cute they make you happy just looking at them.

 

MUSHROOMS

Without a field guide, I won't even attempt to put names on these fascinating images.  Sometimes it is enough to know that such captivating life forms exist and enjoy the display.  We were obviously intrigued by the many types of mushrooms we saw along our wanderings and hikes.

 

 

 

 

 

LICHENS

We also took a liking to (couldn't resist) these engaging types of fungus.
